The Role Play by Government on Rape Cases in Sabah

  Assalamualaikum everyone. Nowadays, we always hear about the case of rapes around the world. There are a lot of rape cases were reported in every single day. So today, I want to share with you the issue of rape case in Sabah and the role that played by the Government.

  Minister in the Prime Minister Department, Nancy Shukri said that there are 110 rape cases recorded in Sabah for first half of 2015 compared to 223 cases in the same period last year.

110 cases were record in Sabah for first 6 month of 2015 compared to 223 cases in the same period last year.


  "Based on statistics, 7 cases of child abuse were reported compared to 19 cases in the previous year," she said

  When officiating the seminar on the 'Right and Issues of Woman and Children' at Tawau on 7 Sept 2015, Nancy said this figures showed that the government takes a serious view of criminal cases involving woman and children in Sabah. The government, through the Sabah Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC), had taken appropriate action in ensuring women and children's rights in Sabah were always protected through law enforcement.

  She also said to ensure the woman and children were always well-protected, several initiatives had been implemented including making sure the country's law continued to be relevant and meer current requirement.

"So far, the AGC is studying the possibility of amending and widening the defination of rape under Section 375 of the Penal Code by taking into account the act of inserting an object or other organs, besides the private part," Nancy said
